Chinese doctor admits to selling patient’s babies to traffickers

Zhang Shuxia, a respected obstetrician in northern China, told parents their newborns had congenital problems and persuaded them to ‘sign and give the babies up,’ court papers said.

A Chinese doctor has admitted in court that she stole babies from the hospital where she worked and sold them to human traffickers, state media and a court said.

Zhang Shuxia, a locally respected and soon-to-retire obstetrician, stood trial on Monday in northern Shaanxi province’s Fuping county, according to online postings from the court.

While working as an obstetrician at the Fuping County Maternal and Child Hospital in central Shaanxi province, Ms. Zhang persuaded couples to give up their newborns by telling them they had complex health problems, Xinhua said. Six of the seven children Ms. Zhang abducted have been returned to their parents, Xinhua said, while one child who was sold for 1,000 yuan, or roughly $165, died.

This act of Ms. Zhang is not isolated from the one child policy enforced by the Chinese government.

Child trafficking, while problematic globally, has taken hold in China, where there is an underground market for forced labor and prostitution. Police last year police uncovered 1,868 child trafficking cases and 4,760 cases of trafficking of women.

I think this year, many governments should start reconsidering many of its draconian laws. Not only is it not helping human civilization, it is gradually turning it into war front. The survival of the fittest
